Here are some podcasts to check out for Monday’s class. If you are not already familiar with a variety of podcasts, check on one or more of these.

- Astronomy cast: (a very popular podcast): “Astronomy Cast takes a fact based journey through the cosmos as it offers listeners weekly discussions on astronomical topics ranging from planets to cosmology” (their site). Available on iTunes or http://www.astronomycast.com/about/
- Podictionary: A Podcast for word lovers: Is a “word of the day” podcast where Charles Hodgson goes into the background for ht word, often including interesting stories. Available on iTunes or http://podictionary.com/index.php
- Screen Space: My podcast for everyday and non expert web, blog, and new media designers. Got a website, blog, or other new media? Then this podcast is for you to make it more usable, effective, assessable, and efficient. Available on iTunes or http://screenspace.org/
- Talking Traffic: “Traffic, Transportation, and Mobility Issues for the Everyday Person.” Available on iTunes or http://www.talkingtraffic.org/
- Midwest Teen Sex Show: A video podcast about teen sexuality. It is funny and often irreverent show about teen sex issues. Available on iTunes or http://midwestteensexshow.com/
- By Women. For Women.: A podcast with Sela press authors about a series of women-focused topics from marathons to loosing parents to women in jail. Available on iTunes or http://www.sealpress.com/podcasts.php
- Say it Plain: Great African American Oratory: This podcast focuses on the great speeches of African American orators and fits nicely into the theme of the class. Available on iTunes.
- Great Speeches in History: This podcast also focuses on what are considered great speeches and often includes the actual speeches by the speaker. Available on iTunes.
- The Speeches of President John F. Kennedy: The title is descriptive and the speeches are recordings of the actual speeches given by Kennedy. The podcast is produced by the John F. Kennedy library. Available on iTunes.
- Presidential Archives Uncovered: This series includes clips from the archives including conversations, speeches, and more. Available on iTunes.
- The New Yorker: Naked Campaign: A video podcast with the New Yorker political cartoonist that focuses on political issues. Available on iTunes.
- Digital Media Insider: This podcasts covers audio, video, and photography, but focuses on audio—such as podcasting. Available on iTunes.
- Gear Media Tech: A video podcast by Leo Laporte, Scott Bourne and Alex Lindsay. It covers the tools and techniques of developing media. Available on iTunes
