Just for the record (for the class and the blog), the argument I posted were not MY words, so regard Akilah's comments as a response to the writer and not myself :)

In response to your show and tell I wanted to answer some of the questions you posed from the other side, because it seems I stand on the other side. First let me say I don’t believe either of us is right. Unfortunately, in this argument over abortion there will never be a right or wrong solution. The debate presents far to opportunities for both sides to have a case. I also want to say that in my principals I do not “personally” believe in abortion. However, publicly I support another woman’s right to chose. I will try to convince who ever will listen not to have an abortion, but at the end of the day I am not the one who will care for the child therefore it should not be up to me.

In the first set of questions you present seem to be concerned with what is the difference between the “unborn child” and the child that is already here. Just the sheer biological essence between the two, during the first trimester and some of the second of pregnancy that unborn child cannot survive without the mother. Technology has not advanced enough to change that. Therefore, at that point it is up to the mother weather that child lives or not and nobody should make that decision for her.

Your words about loving actions are nice but that’s not the reality we live in. The options for women are not everything you make them out to be, and having a baby and giving up a baby is not as easy as anyone makes it sounds. There is no right or wrong answer for the abortion question only the lesser of two evils. When a women chose’s life as you put its not just the life of the unborn child it’s her life too. Having a child changes everything about your life. Some people do not need to have children. Others do not deserve to be parents and simply put they should not.

I have a son! I planned my pregnancy because I was well educated and informed. But, there is a vast majority of us who are not, and no matter how much of a cop out it sound accidents do happen. Nobody should be forced to be a parent, and really the baby never knows the difference.

Since you brought God up he will judge all of our actions, but he gave all of us the gift of choice so we could decide our own fates. While I believe in speaking your mind and trying to get the word out, forcing people to keep unwanted children is not your right or mine. God will judge them for their actions.

But, what if war is not bad? What if war is a naturally occurring process in man and animals? What is the nature of "bad" and "good", or good and evil? What makes something good? What makes something evil?
I am not saying you are wrong, but I am saying that, maybe, we are defined, not by what we think we are, but rather how others see us. Therefore, even if we were to agree upon the nature of good and evil transcending human language, perhaps there are others who seek our (America's) destruction nonetheless.

Feminists are not united behind the goal of "ridding the world of obscene acts that exploit women". Some feminists are, but many are not. Some argue freedom of expression, freedom of choice, and "pro" pornography for a variety of reasons. Others are anti-pornography for many reasons, including the ones in the readings.

Heard that you dropped the class. That's sad. You'll be sorely missed at the back of the table. Or did we decide we were the front of the table? Regardless of table location, you'll be missed. Good luck!
