Good news! We now have the technology classroom we have discussed moving to in class. As of today (9/15) will will start meeting in Urban Life Building 302, in the Usability Lab. Do note there are actually two 302s. One is the usability lab and one is 302C.
The room is somewhat hidden, but easily enough to find if you know the way. If you enter the University Center from the Courtland Street entrance, walk past the bookstore (with the bookstore on your left). Continue down this hallway. You’ll come to an ATM where the hallway makes a jag. You will go through at least one set of double doors (maybe two), which should be open. Right after the doors there will be a very short hall/alcove on your left. The door to the classroom is in this little hallway, immediately on the right when you turn into the hallway. The hallway you were in will open up on the right side (you can see the floor below). If you come to this than you have gone too far, so just turn around and walk back a few steps.

In class today, I mentioned one possible podcast to listen to for Monday’s class (8/25) is the Escape Pod episode where our guest speaker (Stephen Eley) and I read the story. The story is EP169: How I Mounted Goldie, Saved My Partner Lori, and Sniffed Out The People’s Justice. It is rated R, so if that bothers you feel free to go with another podcast or another Escape Pod episodes (most are G or PG). I’ll post the list of other possible podcasts soon.

To log in to the site go to the blog and click on the “log in” link on the right side (under the Meta category). Then once you get to the log in screen enter your username and password (sent to you via email).
Once in, you can click on the profile link (far right near the top) to change your password, name, display name, and put in a url to your website, chat info, and a bio (all optional). Or you can leave everything as it is.
To post your reading response, click on the write link (left side, near the top). You will come to the writing screen. Enter a title and write your post (you can also copy and paste your response from a Word document or other software program). Make sure you mark the category “Reading Responses” (you can find the categories below the place to write your post). Also give it any applicable tags, including a tag for the date. For example, tomorrow’s reading response should include a “Reading Response 8/20” tag, and then any other tags you think fit; perhaps rhetoric, podcasting, and Crowley Hawhee. As the tag instructions state, do separate each tag with a comma.
Once you are done you can view what the post will look like with the “View this post” button (right side, next to the title section of your post). You can set the publishing status with the drop down right below the view button. Keep it unpublished if it is a draft or just not ready to be posted. You can publish it by choosing publish from this menu and clicking save or clicking on the publish button right below. Make sure it is published by 9 am on the day it is due (tomorrow you can turn your responses in as late a 1 pm, but the rest of the time they are due by 9 am).
Once you have published it, go into the blog site (www.screenspace.org/studnets) and check it out. You can also view the site by clicking on the view site link (upper left side).
We’ll talk about more advanced posts later, such as those podcast posts.
