In order to celebrate the last episode of the Usability and Usability Testing 101 series, this week’s tips focus on usability testing.

Once you have selected your user groups, created tasks, and prepared for testing, it is finally time to do those usability tests! With all this preparation the testing itself should be easy. Just remember what you need to do before the testing, during the testing, and after the testing:

Before the Testing

  • Greet & Brief participant
  • Have the user sign the consent forms
  • Conduct any pre-testing surveys or interviews

During the Testing

  • Observe and record data
  • Act appropriately

After the Testing

  • Follow-up on the testing
  • Conduct any post-testing interviews or surveys
  • Debrief user
