Users do not like splash pages, so don’t make them suffer—avoid using splash pages. Splash pages are those pages that come up before you get to the homepage of the site. When Disney had a splash page, 50% of all clicks on the full Disney site were the “skip intro” link. Yes, one in every two clicks on the site was to skip the splash page. Often users will just leave if a site has a splash page. Also, many mobile devices do not work with Flash, which some splash pages are made from, so some users may not even be able to access your site if your start with a splash page. Do us a favor, don’t include one.
